Bone Marrow and Stem Cell Transplant Center

Winship's Bone Marrow and Stem Cell Transplant Center offers you an experienced healthcare team dedicated to providing you with the latest in stem cell transplantation and cellular therapies.

Clinical research and better practices over the last decade—particularly stem cell transplants and cellular therapies—have provided dramatically improved outcomes for people with cancer.

Our experts originated many of these new practices and therapies, so you know you're getting the latest, most effective treatments available.

Located on the Plaza level at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University's Clifton campus, our Bone Marrow and Stem Cell Transplant Center is the oldest and largest of its kind in Georgia.

Our care team includes experienced physicians, nurses, pharmacists, social workers, dietitians, physical therapists and spiritual health therapists, working together to provide comprehensive care during the entire process. Our weekly update meetings ensure that every member of the multidisciplinary team knows each patient's individual plan of treatment, so all can work together to meet the overall goals of care.

Our team is internationally known for our research and treatment of blood cancers and blood disorders—including leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, myelodysplastic syndromes, aplastic anemia, sickle cell anemia and bloodless transplants, and select solid tumors, particularly germ cell tumors.

What our comprehensive program offers you

  • A full service, dedicated transplant center performing autologous, related and unrelated donor transplants.
  • Highly experienced teams who have performed more than 7,000 transplants.
  • One of the select few institutions in the United States to offer all FDA-approved CAR T-cell therapy options.
  • Support services before, during and after transplant or cellular therapy.
  • Participation, if you choose, in clinical trials that offer you the newest knowledge in stem cell biology, transplant immunology and cellular therapy.

Winship's Bone Marrow and Stem Cell Transplant Center is fully accredited by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy, and serves as a National Marrow Donor Program transplant and collection center.

Clinical Trials

Our researchers participate in national, international and institutional clinical trials, ensuring that our patients have access to the newest advances in stem cell biology, immunology and cancer medicine.

We also participate in both clinical and basic research through a number of national and international cooperative groups, including the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group, the Bone Marrow Transplant Clinical Trials Network, and the Multiple Myeloma Research Consortium.

Consider talking with your doctor about participating in a clinical trial at Winship. Through these trials, you may have access to treatments that are not widely available.

Winship patients and physicians collaborated with Be The Match® to create a series of patient-centered educational videos about bone marrow transplantation. Along with managing the largest and most diverse marrow registry in the world, Be The Match has a team dedicated to supporting patients, caregivers, family members and friends, before, during and after a transplant.
