Nutrition Services

Nutrition plays an important role in your care during and after treatment at Winship Cancer Institute.

Recommendations about food and eating habits for cancer patients can be very different from the usual suggestions for healthful eating.

This can be confusing for you as a patient or survivor because these new suggestions may seem to contradict what you have always heard.

Our goals with nutrition counseling are to help you to:

  • Manage treatment side effects
  • Achieve and maintain optimal body weight
  • Review tube feeding needs and management
  • Cancer prevention and survivorship education
  • Review nutritional supplements, vitamins and minerals
  • Learn about safe food handling and preparation
  • Educate family member/caregivers about your special needs
  • Enhance quality of life during treatment

Our registered dietitians are available to answer questions and address concerns about managing your diet, weight, treatment side effects, and use of nutritional supplements. To schedule an appointment with one of our dietitians, call (404) 778-5646.
