Malak AlThgafi, MD, MBA

Biography

Malak Abed AlThgafi, MD, MBA, is a professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine. A board-certified pathologist, Dr. AlThgafi is a physician-scientist trained in clinical pathology, anatomical pathology, neuropathology and molecular genetics pathology and is an expert in the genomic profiling of tumors, particularly in neuro-oncology. She is a member of the Cell and Molecular Biology Research Program at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. She is passionate about training the next generation of women physicians and scientists.

Dr. AlThgafi is a Fellow of the American College of Clinical Pathology and the American College of Pathologists. She holds professional memberships with the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, American College of Medical Genetics, Association for Molecular Pathology, American Medical Association and American Association for Neuropathologists.

Research

Dr. AlThgafi's research goal is to improve the application of personalized medicine and targeted therapy in the clinical management of patients with cancer.
