Winship Research Informatics

The Winship Research Informatics shared resource provides Winship members the latest in data management resources to support scientific research.

The goal of the Winship Research Informatics shared resource is to provide comprehensive and cutting edge informatics support to multidisciplinary Winship investigators. We work in collaboration with the Winship Cancer Institute research programs, other Winship shared resources, the Department of Biomedical Informatics and Emory University School of Medicine core facilities. Our core's multi-pronged approach to addressing the data management needs of investigators is critical for the scientific mission of the Winship Cancer Institute.

Core services include:

  • Database design, development and management
  • Data abstraction/collection
  • Matching existing clinical and biological information resources to research needs
  • Designing case report forms
  • Clinical annotation for disease specific biospecimen banks
  • Systematic reviews and meta analysis (search strategies, data extraction, literature review, analysis)
  • Cohort discovery
  • Support for grants/manuscripts/meeting abstracts
  • Support for training programs

In addition, we now provide access to National Cancer Database files for solid and hematologic malignancies for the years 2004-2014. This service is available to Winship members for research purposes and is provided in collaboration with the Biostatistics and Bioinformatics Shared Resource. Project requests are now being accepted.
