New Project Targets Biology of Aggressive Cancers

Winship has partnered with Yale University on a new U54 Systems Biology Center Grant. The funding will be used to understand how cancer cells reach an aggressive state and begin damaging surrounding tissue. Adam Marcus, PhD, will serve as a primary investigator.

Researcher Appreciation Day is coming up on September 1st and Winship's Adam Marcus, PhD will be honored as a researcher who exemplifies the outstanding faculty of the Emory School of Medicine. A special website will highlight the accomplishments of featured researchers on campus.
 
  
Winship Patient To Compete in Paralympic Games
Cassie Mitchell, PhD, Winship leukemia patient and assistant professor of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Tech and Emory, is on the US track and field team going to Rio in September for the 2016 Paralympic Games. She will compete in club throw and discus throw.

Wilkinson Successfully Defends PhD Thesis
Cancer Biology Graduate Program student Scott Wilkinson delivered an oral presentation of his dissertation on August 26 titled, "The role of LKB1 in regulating actin and cellular polarization during motility."
