Winship Names Kennedy Endowed Chairs Focused on Prostate Cancer

Winship has selected two prostate cancer specialists to hold endowed chairs made possible through a gift from the James M. Cox Foundation. John G. Pattaras, MD is the James C. Kennedy Chair in Prostate Surgery, and Peter J. Rossi, MD is the James C. Kennedy Chair in Prostate Cancer. Pictured: President Claire Sterk, Peter J. Pillai Presents at World Conference on Lung Cancer
Winship oncologist Rathi Pillai, MD delivered a plenary talk at the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) World Conference on Lung Cancer in Vienna, Austria on December 5. Pillai's talk, part of the presidential symposium, focused on the GALAXY-2 clinical trial in advanced non-small cell lung cancer.
 
  
Winship Members Selected for EM-ProLEAD
Drs. Cletus Arciero, Felix Fernandez, Mark McDonald, and Christopher Porter have been selected to join the Emory Medicine Professional Leadership Enrichment and Development cohort, a program for faculty to enrich leadership skills, enhance business knowledge, and develop strong partnerships across Emory.
 
 
 
     
 
 
AURA3 Study Results Published in NEJM
Winship deputy Suresh Ramalingam, MD and colleagues from the AURA3 clinical trial recently published their findings in The New England Journal of Medicine. The study found that osimertinib led to better response rates and a longer duration of progression-free survival in patients with T790M-positive advanced non-small-cell lung cancer.

The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network hosted the Georgia Personalized Medicine Forum in Atlanta on December 6. Featured speakers were Winship radiation oncologist Mohammad Khan, MD, PhD (left) and Otis Brawley, MD, chief medical officer of the American Cancer Society and a Winship advisory board member.
