Cancer Moonshot Summit at Winship

More than a hundred cancer researchers, clinicians, advocates, public health officials, and patients attended one of 10 regional Cancer Moonshot Summits at Winship on June 29. The group was tasked with coming up with ideas to report back to Vice President Joe Biden. The goal of the Cancer Moonshot is to double the rate of progress in cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and care over the next five years and to ultimately end cancer as we know it.

Reception Celebrates BMT Milestone

Winship's Bone Marrow and Stem Cell Transplant Center was one of the first of its kind in the country when it started transplanting patients with blood cancers and blood disorders in 1979. On Tuesday, June 28, patients, doctors and nurses were on hand to celebrate a major milestone, the 5,000th bone marrow transplant procedure.
