Winship Oncology Nursing Symposium

The 8th annual Winship Oncology Nursing Symposium "Advancing the Possibilities" took place over the weekend, with close to 300 nurses from across the Southeast in attendance. The symposium updates health care professionals on emerging trends, practical strategies, and tools to improve nursing practices. Be The Match BMT Videos
Winship patients and physicians recently collaborated with Be The Match to create a series of patient-centered educational videos about blood and marrow transplantation. Be The Match, operated by the National Marrow Donor Program, manages the largest and most diverse marrow registry in the world.

Celebrating Social Workers
The National Association of Social Workers has declared March National Social Work Month. Winship has a team of oncology social workers that helps those coping with cancer. They provide practical assistance, support and individual, family and group counseling at multiple Winship sites.

Winship Pathologists Attend USCAP
Winship pathologists attended the 105th United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology (USCAP) Annual Meeting, which was held March 12-18 in Seattle, Washington. Mentor a Summer Scholar

Interested in mentoring the next generation of cancer researchers? Winship is looking for faculty mentors to host a bright high school student who is enrolled in our Summer Scholars Research Program. The six-week program begins June 6. Under the guidance and training of Winship faculty, the students are expected to perform experiments and generate data that will support their research interests. Lecture Series Focuses on Faculty Development
The Faculty Development Lecture Series, presented throughout the year by senior faculty from Emory University School of Medicine, covers practical topics aimed at assisting faculty in their career development. The next lecture, "Scholarship for Educators and Clinicians," will be presented by Drs. Dan Hunt and Hal Simon on Tuesday, March 22 from 5:30-6:30pm.
