Marcus Named to 40 Under 40 List

Adam Marcus, PhD, director of the Integrated Cellular Imaging Shared Resource at Winship, was named to the Atlanta Business Chronicle's 2016 40 under 40 list. The publication, which presented the honor on November 3, calls the forty young women and men "metro area movers and shakers."

Winship Investigators Honored for FDA-Approved Technology
Mark Goodman, PhD, David Schuster, MD, and colleagues were honored for their work in the diagnostic imaging agent Axumin at a November 2 reception hosted by Emory's Department of Radiology and Office of Technology Transfer. Axumin is now FDA-approved for use in prostate cancer and brain tumors.

Atlanta VA Leads NCTN Enrollment
Winship investigators at the Atlanta VA have more cancer patients enrolled in NCI National Clinical Trials Network (NCTN) studies than other institution in the U.S. Special kudos to Drs. Scott Edelman, Bruce Hershatter, Maria Ribeiro, and Wayne Harris and the entire Winship team of physicians and coordinators working at the Atlanta VA.
 
  
Umstead Successfully Defends PhD Thesis
Cancer Biology Graduate Program student MaKendra Umstead delivered an oral presentation of her dissertation on October 31 titled, "Aurora Kinase A Promotes Oncogenic Signaling Through Novel Protein-Protein Interactions."
