The People Behind CCC

Winship's new National Cancer Institute comprehensive cancer center designation is due in part to partnerships with local and national organizations, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Georgia CORE, Georgia Research Alliance, and the American Cancer Society all headquartered in Atlanta. These partnerships provide opportunities for Winship investigators to collaborate on projects and compete for cancer research funding. An example is Winship's American Cancer Society Institutional Research Grant (ACS-IRG), which provides pilot funding to early-career cancer research faculty and which is currently accepting letters of intent. Pictured: Paula Vertino, PhD (center), principal investigator of the ACS-IRG.
