Langston Named Winship Cancer Network Medical Director

Winship announced today that Amelia (Amy) Langston, MD is the new medical director of the Winship Cancer Network. She will work with Vanessa Bramble, the network director, to build strategies and opportunities for community health care organizations in the region to collaborate with Winship.

Kucuk Featured at Integrative Medicine Symposium
Winship medical oncologist Omer Kucuk, MD delivered two plenary talks at the 4th Annual Integrative Medicine Symposium held Nov. 24-25 in Melbourne, Australia. The symposium, organized by the National Institute of Integrative Medicine, presented the latest evidence-based research, therapies, treatments and innovative technologies.
 
  
Edwards Departs Winship
Dave Edwards, Winship's Senior Director of Development, has accepted a position as associate VP of development for the Cancer Institute of New Jersey at Rutgers University. His last day at Winship was Dec. 1. For the past two years, Edwards led Winship's development team through successful annual campaigns and signature events. A national search will be launched for his replacement.

Registration is open for the 10th Annual Winship Oncology Nursing Symposium on Mar. 16-17, 2018 at the Atlanta Evergreen Marriott Conference Resort. The educational event will feature a keynote talk from Monica Kaufman Pearson, Atlanta broadcast news icon and a two-time cancer survivor who was treated at Winship.

People Behind CCC

Winship's new National Cancer Institute comprehensive cancer center designation is due in part to researchers who are studying how to improve the length and quality of life for people living with the disease. Led by Christopher Flowers, MD (center), the Lymphoma Epidemiology of Outcomes (LEO) is a pioneering, multi-institutional study that is developing an infrastructure to acquire and manage data, examine trends to find ways to prevent lymphomas and help people with lymphoma live longer and better.
