Winship Acquires State-of-the-Art Lattice Sheet Microscope

Winship is one of only 15 sites worldwide to acquire and install a lattice sheet microscope, novel technology that will change the way researchers are able to visualize cells. Diane Cassels will retire this week after a 24-year career at Emory. Cassels has served in a number of leadership roles since joining Emory in 1992 including Chief Department Administrator for Radiation Oncology.

Golfers Present Check to Winship
Winship Executive Director Walter J. Curran, Jr., MD and urology chair Martin Sanda, MD joined golfers from the Country Club of Roswell for a check presentation December 16. The club's Drive for the Cure golf tournament raised nearly $30,000 for prostate cancer research at Winship.

Funding Opportunities in Brain Tumor Research
The Southeastern Brain Tumor Foundation invites faculty to submit innovative pre-clinical and clinical brain tumor research projects. Up to $75,000 may be distributed per proposal. Applications are due January 30.

Winship Patients Paint Colorful Mural

A new patient-created art mural is on display at Emory University Hospital Midtown, a project organized by Atlanta-based artist William Massey. Winship patients worked on the canvases over the last few months while they received chemotherapy.
 
 
 
     
 
 
Blanket Drive Extended
Help keep our patients warm this winter by donating new fleece blankets through Friday, January 13. Collection boxes are in team areas at Emory University Hospital Midtown, Emory Johns Creek, Emory Saint Joseph's, and Clifton Road locations. The team that collects the most blankets will be recognized and win a pizza lunch.

Successful Holiday Gift Giving
Winship's annual Holiday Family Adoption program was a huge success this year thanks to your generosity. Gifts were provided to 39 Winship patients and their families.
