New Hospital Tower to Open in Summer 2017

Winship Executive Director Walter J. Curran, Jr., MD toured the new Emory Hospital Tower on January 24. The building, scheduled to open this summer, will include three floors dedicated to in-patient cancer care including BMT, surgery, hematology and oncology. Ke Receives NSF Award
Yonggang Ke, PhD, assistant professor of biomedical engineering, has been selected to receive a National Science Foundation (NSF) CAREER Award. The five-year, $500,000 NSF CAREER Award recognizes the highest level of excellence among early-stage researchers.

Lam Elected to ASCI
Wilbur Lam, MD, PhD, assistant professor of pediatrics and biomedical engineering, has been elected to the American Society for Clinical Investigation (ASCI). Lam and deputy director Suresh Ramalingam, MD will attend ASCI's formal induction ceremony in April in Chicago.

Puri Lecture Set for Friday

Winship PA to Retire After 29 Years
Oncology physician assistant Marian Shepard will retire this week after nearly three decades caring for patients as a member of Winship's leukemia team. Colleagues, family, and friends gathered to honor Shepard and celebrate her career achievements on January 26.

The Lesinski lab, led by Winship principal investigator Gregory Lesinski, PhD, MPH, recently launched a new website. The research team focuses on cancer immunology with the goal of developing and improving upon existing therapies.
