Winship Experts To Visit Cuba

For the first time ever, a group of Winship experts will travel to Havana, Cuba, to meet with clinicians and researchers about new approaches to immunotherapy in treating multiple myeloma. Drs. Sagar Lonial, Jonathan Kaufman, Rathi Pillai and Larry Boise will share their expertise with Cuban medical oncologists and hematologists during the January 14-15 gathering. "Cuba has been at the forefront of many vaccine-based approaches in cancer and other diseases," says Lonial, chair of the Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology. "We'll be talking about how to collectively improve immune based treatments for patients with myeloma using experience and lessons from many different approaches and diseases."
