90-Ton Cyclotron Installed at Emory Proton Therapy Center

A 90-ton piece of equipment called a cyclotron was delivered and installed Thursday, July 13 at the Emory Proton Therapy Center. The cyclotron will be the source of the proton beam at the state of the art facility located in Midtown Atlanta.

Winship Welcomes Wechsler
Daniel Wechsler, MD, PhD is the new director of pediatric oncology at the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center and professor of pediatrics at Emory University School of Medicine. Wechsler, a physician-scientist, is focused on the study and treatment of childhood leukemias.

Cohen Discusses New Gene Therapy Cancer Drug with CNN
Winship hematologist Jonathon Cohen, MD appeared on CNN July 13 to discuss a new cancer treatment drug headed for FDA approval. If approved, the drug would be the first U.S. gene therapy to reach the market.

Congratulations to four Winship clinical staff leaders on their recent promotions.
