Winship Welcomes Summer Scholars

Ten high school students from across the state of Georgia will spend the next six weeks immersed in cancer research as part of Winship's 17th annual Summer Scholars Research Program. Winship's new National Cancer Institute comprehensive cancer center designation is due in part to the Shared Resources, including Integrated Cellular Imaging (ICI), whose expert teams and state-of-the-art technology are integral to scientific discovery. Waller Lectures in China
Winship hematologist Edmund K. Waller, MD, PhD visited South Central University in Changsha, China on May 15 where he was a guest speaker on stem cell transplantation and cancer immunotherapy.

Social Services Team Attends AOSW
Winship social workers Russell Brown, Beth Perlmutter and Jim Hankins attended the Association of Oncology Social Work conference this month in Denver, Colorado. Perlmutter presented on therapeutic approaches to reduce distress in cancer patients.
