Pathologists Gather for USCAP Meeting
Daniel Brat, MD, PhD delivered the Nathan Kaufman Timely Topics special lecture at the 106th U.S. and Canadian Academy of Pathology (USCAP) Annual Meeting held March 4-10 in San Antonio. Volkan Adsay, MD served as the meeting's president and presented research along with dozens of Winship colleagues.

Thoracic Cancers Symposium Preview

Winship investigators are headed to San Francisco for the 2017 Multidisciplinary Thoracic Cancers Symposium, March 16-18. Executive Director Walter J. Curran, Jr., MD will give a keynote address. Radiation oncology resident Richard Cassidy, MD will discuss his oral abstract in a news briefing highlighting the symposium's top research studies.

Ramalingam Elected to Board Exam Committee
Suresh Ramalingam, MD has been elected to the American Board of Internal Medicine's Medical Oncology Board Exam Committee, the governing body responsible for creating examinations for Board Certified physicians. Ramalingam will begin his two-year term on the committee July 1.

Karen Russell, MSN, RN, AOCNS has been named nursing education manager for Winship. Russell, who joined Winship in 2003, will begin her new role April 9.
 
  
New Security Screening at Children's
Children's Healthcare of Atlanta now requires all adults to show identification upon entering hospital buildings. Accepted forms of ID include Emory or Children's employee badges, state-issued IDs, and passports.
