Medical Students Awarded RSNA Research Grants

Emory University School of Medicine's Ashley Joy Schlafstein and Jacob Wynne have each received a Research Medical Student Grant from the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA). DAISY Award Recognizes Nursing Excellence

Winship nurses Celia Lett, NP and Devianna McBride, RN were honored with DAISY awards for demonstrating extraordinary clinical skill and compassion. The nurses were nominated by leukemia patient Tammy Baggett, who attended the award ceremony held March 24 at Winship.

Multiple Myeloma Experts to Lead Patient Summit

Sagar Lonial, MD will chair the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation's Patient Summit on April 9 at the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center in Atlanta. Speakers will include Lonial and Winship colleagues Jonathan Kaufman, MD, and Charise Gleason, MSN, NP.

Workshop Spotlights Cancer Informatics

The Cancer Informatics for Cancer Centers (CI4CC) spring workshop and symposium took place March 19-22 in Huntington Beach, Calif. Multiple Myeloma Team Gears Up for MMRF 5K

Winship faculty, staff and friends will participate the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) Team for Cures 5K Walk/Run on April 9 in Dunwoody, Ga. Sagar Lonial, MD, Winship chief medical officer, will serve as honorary race chair.

Komen Race for the Cure Set for May 13

Winship's Glenn Family Breast Center and Emory Breast Imaging have signed on as sponsors for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Atlanta on May 13. Register with the Winship team by March 31 and receive a free t-shirt.

Head and Neck Cancer Symposium on April 22

Winship will host the Updates in the Management of Head and Neck Cancer symposium on April 22 at the Emory Health Sciences Research Building. Expert faculty will explore current treatment paradigms through panel discussions and case presentations.

Debates and Didactics Conference Set for Summer

Winship's Debates and Didactics in Hematology and Oncology conference will take place July 26-30 in Sea Island, Ga. The conference focuses on the mechanisms of disease and treatments for patients with cancer or blood disorders.

Call for Proposals: Elkin and Rochfort Awards

Winship's Elkin Fellowship in Oncology and Rochfort Scholarship in Oncology are awarded annually to extraordinary clinical trainees at Emory. Applications are due March 31.

Call for Proposals: V Scholar Award

The V Foundation's two-year, $200,000 V Scholar Award supports early-career faculty in the conduct of basic or translational cancer research. Letters of intent are due April 14.
