Winship Holds Court at Hawks Game

Winship leaders Walter J. Curran, Jr., MD and Suresh Ramalingam, MD served as honorary co-captains for the March 5th Atlanta Hawks game, sponsored by Emory Healthcare. Dozens of Winship patients, caregivers, and staff received complimentary tickets and cheered on the home team.

Kucuk Touts Soy Use in the Journal Cancer
Winship medical oncologist Omer Kucuk, MD has authored an editorial in the journal Cancer that recommends women consume soy foods to help prevent breast cancer and improve the prognosis of those currently undergoing treatment. Kucuk has studied the use and impact of soy isoflavones for more than two decades.

Radiotracer Improves Targeted Therapy in Prostate Cancer
Winship investigators have demonstrated that the PET radiotracer fluciclovine can help guide and monitor targeted treatment for prostate cancer without increasing toxicity. Goodman, Liotta Receive Emory Tech Transfer Awards
Mark Goodman, PhD and Dennis Liotta, PhD were honored at the 11th Annual Celebration of Technology & Innovation on March 2. Goodman received the "Significant Event of 2016" award for FACBC (Axumin). Liotta's CDK inhibitor collaboration was named "Deal of 2016."
 
  
Owonikoko Nominated for CURE Honor
Taofeek Owonikoko, MD, PhD has been nominated to be honored by the National Cancer Institute's (NCI) Center to Reduce Cancer Health Disparities. The "2017 Professional Development Workshop: Celebrating 21 Years of the CURE Program" will be held on June 27.
