Curran Honored by Alma Mater

On Friday, April 28th Winship Executive Director Walter J. Curran, Jr., MD was named as the 2017 Distinguished Alumnus in Professional Achievement by the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta.

Eley Receives Public Health Award

Winship oncologist J. William Eley, MD, MPH received the Charles R. Hatcher, Jr., MD Award for Excellence in Public Health at a ceremony held April 24 at Emory's Rollins School of Public Health.

T Cell Revival Correlates with Lung Cancer Response to PD-1 Immunotherapy

In lung cancer patients who were taking immunotherapy drugs targeting the PD-1 pathway, testing for CD8 T cell activation in their blood partially predicted whether their tumors would shrink. The study, a collaboration of Winship and Emory Vaccine Center investigators, is published in PNAS.
