Marcus Named Winship Associate Director for Basic Research and Shared Resources

Adam Marcus, PhD is Winship Cancer Institute's new associate director for basic research and shared resources. He takes the place of Paul Doetsch, PhD who has been designated to become the deputy scientific director in the Division of Intramural Research of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences.

Sukhatme Appointed School of Medicine Dean
Emory University has appointed Vikas P. Sukhatme, MD, ScD, a distinguished physician-scientist, as the new Dean of Emory University School of Medicine. Sukhatme will join Emory November 1 from Harvard Medical School.

Improving Prostate Cancer Diagnosis
A recent study from Martin Sanda, MD and colleagues found that urinary testing can improve aggressive prostate cancer detection and avert unnecessary biopsy. The results were published in JAMA Oncology.

The People Behind CCC

Winship's new National Cancer Institute comprehensive cancer center designation is due in part to the Shared Resources, including Cancer Tissue and Pathology, which are integral to scientific discovery. The Cancer Tissue and Pathology Shared Resource manages the IRB-approved procurement and distribution of samples and provides histology-based services for basic, translational, clinical, and epidemiological investigations.
