| | Vertino To Depart Emory | Paula Vertino, PhD, leader of Winship's Cancer Genetics and Epigenetics Research Program, will officially retire at the end of the month from Emory University after 22 years. She will become the director of translational research and professor of biomedical genetics at Wilmot Cancer Institute at the University of Rochester Medical Center in New York. A farewell reception will be held on Aug. 24, 4-6pm, in the John H. Kauffman Auditorium (C5012, Winship 5th Floor).

| | | | Boise Awarded MMRF Answer Fund Grant | Lawrence Boise, PhD, has received a grant from the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation to evaluate a high risk gene pattern seen in some patients who relapse 12 to 18 months after treatment. Boise, in collaboration with Drs. Paula Vertino, Sagar Lonial, Ajay Nooka, and David Jaye, as well as University of Calgary researchers, will investigate whether this pattern can predict high risk patients at diagnosis and offer a new therapeutic target.
