| | Van Meir Lab Receives DoD Idea Award | Erwin Van Meir, PhD (left), leader of Winship's Cancer Cell Biology Research Program, has received an Idea Award with Special Focus from the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), one of only five such grants given in the Brain Cancer topic area this cycle. The two-year, $624,000 grant will support research from postdoctoral fellow Satoru Osuka, MD, PhD (right), who is studying the role of N-cadherin in the therapeutic resistance of glioblastoma.

| | | | Ivanov Awarded Best Poster by CTD2 Network | Winship investigator Andrey Ivanov, PhD, and MD/PhD student Sean Doyle received the 1st place poster award for their research on neomorph protein-protein interactions at the NCI's Cancer Target Discovery and Development (CTD2) Network annual meeting held June 21-22.
