Winship's GI Cancer Team Working to Beat the Odds of Pancreatic Cancer

Winship uses a multidisciplinary approach to tackle pancreatic cancer, one of the most deadly diagnoses in oncology. Tumor board meetings, which harness the collective expertise of specialists from different domains, are at the center of Winship's team approach. The gastrointestinal tumor board (pictured above) meets weekly to review cases and provide a personalized treatment plan for each patient, including the appropriate use and timing of multiple therapies.

Kucuk Presents at International Urological Oncology Conference
Winship medical oncologist Omer Kucuk, MD, was a faculty speaker at the 8th Eurasian Uro-oncology Congress held June 28 through July 1 in Tbilisi, Georgia. Kucuk delivered a lecture on integrative design for cancer prevention and therapy.

Summer Scholars To Showcase Research
Ten high school students (pictured with program coordinator Megan McCall) will graduate from Winship's 2018 Summer Scholars Research Program this week. They will present their final projects on Friday, July 13 from 8:30am to 12:30pm in the Kauffman Auditorium.

Parks Among Top Peachtree Road Race Finishers
Completing the 10-kilometer course in under 32 minutes, radiation oncology resident Jason Parks, MD, was the fastest Georgian to run this year's AJC Peachtree Road Race on July 4. Parks was the overall winner of the 2017 Winship Win the Fight 5K.
