ASCO To Feature Winship Honorees and Presenters

Winship investigators will receive honors and awards at the annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) to be held Jun. 1-5 in Chicago. More than two dozen others will present new Winship research and lead education sessions. Harvey and Colleagues Discuss Biosimilar Medications in NEJM
R. Donald Harvey, PharmD, director of the Winship Phase I Clinical Trials Section, is co-author on an article published May 24 in the New England Journal of Medicine about the growing availability of biosimilar drugs, their potential cost-savings, and how they can be safely used in clinic.

Winship Experts Participate in International Lung Cancer Meeting
Winship members Drs. Taofeek Owonikoko and Shi-Yong Sun, professors in the Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology, presented at an international lung cancer conference focused on basic research and clinical applications in Nanjing, China on May 18.
 
  
Zhong Awarded $50K "Shark Tank" Grant
Radiation oncology resident Jim Zhong, MD has been awarded $50,000 for winning the shark tank competition at the Glenn Family Breast Center Retreat on May 8. Zhong, who will be joining the Winship radiation oncology faculty in August, will use the funds to develop a clinical trial to treat brain metastases, which can occur in patients with advanced breast cancer.
