The Cardboard City

Winship's dedicated Phase I Clinical Trials Unit will triple in size when it moves to a new space in the Emory University Hospital Tower. A multi-disciplinary team has worked hard for weeks on floor plans that were turned into a life-size cardboard model of the proposed unit. Now they're tweaking the model to get it right, before construction starts. A new video shows how the process evolved.

Lash Named Chair of the Department of Epidemiology
Timothy L. Lash, DSc, MPH, leader of Winship's Cancer Prevention and Control Research Program, has been appointed as Rollins Professor and Chair of the Department of Epidemiology at the Emory Rollins School of Public Health. His appointment is effective June 2018.

Buchwald Awarded RSNA Research Grant
Winship radiation oncology resident Zachary Buchwald, MD, PhD has received a Research Medical Student Grant from the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA). The one-year, $30,000 award will support Buchwald's project, "The Impact of Corticosteroids on Combined Radiation and anti-PD-L1 in the Control of Oligo-metastatic Melanoma."
 
 
 

Window Into Winship

This week we take you to behind the scenes of a special moment that happened on the Clifton Campus on May 8. Ron Gant, morning anchor and former Atlanta Braves player, delivered well-wishes to Sue Light in Winship's radiation oncology waiting room. The surprise, set up by daughter Jenny and FOX 5 Atlanta's Christy Hutchings brought the brain cancer patient to tears.
