Winship to host 2022 NACCDO-PAMN meeting

Executive Director Walter J. Curran, Jr., MD presented the winning bid for Winship to host the NACCDO-PAMN conference in 2022. Owonikoko presents CheckMate 451 study results
Taofeek Owonikoko, MD, PhD presented late-breaking results from the CheckMate 451 study on April 11 at the European Lung Cancer Congress in Geneva. The study found that maintenance immunotherapy failed to improve survival in patients with extensive-stage small cell lung cancer.

Bruner recognized with 'Outstanding Alumni' award by Penn Nursing
Deborah Bruner, RN, PhD, FAAN will be presented with the 2019 Outstanding Alumni Award from the University of Pennsylvania's School of Nursing during its Alumni Weekend in May. The award recognizes outstanding Penn Nursing graduates who have advanced the nursing profession.

Torres appointed to CDC advisory committee
Mylin Torres, MD has been appointed to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Advisory Committee on Breast Cancer in Young Women. The committee develops evidence-based approaches to advance understanding and awareness of breast cancer among young women through prevention research, public and health professional education and awareness activities, and emerging prevention strategies.

Esiashvili featured at pediatric oncology conference in Abu Dhabi
Natia Esiashvili, MD served on an advisory board for the International Society of Pediatric Oncology Asia Continental Congress, held April 3-6 in Abu Dhabi, UAE, where she gave several presentations including a workshop and "meet the expert" panel.
 
  
Khan shares immunotherapy research at American Radium Society meeting
Mohammad Khan, MD, PhD gave a lecture titled "Immunotherapy for Skin Cancer and Potential Implications for Radiotherapy trials" at the American Radium Society Annual Meeting April 6-9 in Dana Point, California.
 
 
 
     
 
 
Shaib participates in Healing NET Summit
Walid Shaib, MD presented at the 2019 Healing NET Summit April 4-6 in Nashville. The invitation-only conference encourages debate, discussion, and collaboration among multi-disciplinary teams focused on filling gaps in neuroendocrine tumor (NET) care.
 
  
Bai accepted to NCI training workshop
Jinbing Bai, PhD was accepted as 2019 Senior Advisory Board fellow for the National Cancer Institute's Transdisciplinary Research on Energetics and Cancer Training Workshop. The five-day workshop, supported by a R25 grant to Yale University, will be held in June.

Winship recognizes the following physicians at each Winship study site who have enrolled the most patients onto NCI National Clinical Trials Network (NCTN) studies during the last six months: Drs. Mehmet Bilen (Clifton Campus), Neela Natarajan (Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital), Dong Moon Shin (Midtown), and Jolinta Lin and Jay Shelton (Grady).
