Atlanta Dream Head Coach Nicki Collen to serve as Winship 5K Grand Marshal

Nicki Collen, head coach of the WNBA's Atlanta Dream, will fire the starting gun at the Winship Win the Fight 5K this year on Saturday, October 5. Registration for the 9th annual event is now open. This year's run/walk will take place on the Emory University Quadrangle on Dowman Drive.

DNA rearrangement may predict resistance in multiple myeloma
Winship researchers have found that a certain type of DNA marker predicts poor outcomes in multiple myeloma, which may indicate resistance to immunomodulatory drugs such as lenalidomide. First author Benjamin Barwick, PhD and colleagues published their findings April 23 in Nature Communications.

NEJM study evaluates drug for treatment of aggressive hematologic cancer
A multi-institutional study has found that the use of the drug tagraxofusp led to clinical responses in patients with blastic plasmacytoid dendritic-cell neoplasms. William Blum, MD is a co-author of the study, which was published April 26 in the New England Journal of Medicine.

WinshipMD is a new mobile app that enables referring physicians to easily connect with Winship specialists. First piloted as a browser-based tool, the app is now available for download in the Google Play and Apple App stores.

Jordan elected to national cancer registrar committee
