The Winship 5K is seven weeks away!

Now is the time to register for the 9th annual Winship Win the Fight 5K Run/Walk. The event, which starts and ends on the Emory University Quadrangle, will be held Saturday, Oct. 5. Nicki Collen, head coach of the WNBA's Atlanta Dream, will serve as Grand Marshal.

Winship retreat focuses on catchment area impact
Winship's Discovery and Developmental Therapeutics (DDT) Research Program held a retreat on Aug. 16 in Emory's Health Sciences Research Building. The retreat focused on current catchment-area efforts and their impact in the state of Georgia. Winship immune monitoring core hosts open house
The Winship Immune Monitoring Shared Resource, directed by Kavita Dhodapkar, MBBS, held an open house and reception on Aug. 15 in Winship's Kauffman Auditorium. The 9th Annual Winship Gastrointestinal Cancer Symposium, featuring an expert review of the latest procedures, technology, and medical treatments, will be Sept.14 in Emory's Health Sciences Research Building.

Golfers raise funds for Winship prostate cancer research

The Dunwoody Country Club's Champions Golf Association donated $380,000 for prostate cancer research. The funds were raised during the annual John H. Kauffman golf tournament and will help support new pilot grants at Winship.

Winship seeks women to mentor patients with gynecologic cancers
Winship has launched a new peer-to-peer support program called Woman to Woman, which allows patients who are newly diagnosed with gynecologic cancers to receive one-on-one emotional support and mentoring from trained survivor-volunteers.
