The Winship Scientific Symposium will be held March 27-28 on the Emory campus. Highlights include a career development session, "The Business of Science"; a poster session and reception; a Shark Tank competition; and talks related to the symposium theme, "The Social Impact of Winship Science."

Escoffery to serve as president of Society for Public Health Education
Cam Escoffery, PhD, MPH, CHES, associate professor of behavioral sciences and health education at the Emory Rollins School of Public Health, has been named president-elect of the Society for Public Health Education. She will officially assume the office on March 27.

Study assesses microbiome changes in gynecologic cancer
Drs. Deborah Watkins Bruner, Jinbing Bai, and colleagues used QIIME 2 (Quantitative Insights Into Microbial Ecology 2) to assess the vaginal microbiome in women with gynecologic cancer before and after radiation therapy. The study was published in Oncology Nursing Forum.

Researchers develop "structured crowd-sourcing" AI model
Lee Cooper, PhD, MS and colleagues built an artificial intelligence system to look at pathology slides and identify the tissue components. The system, which was tested in triple-negative breast cancer samples, is described in Bioinformatics.

Buchwald selected for AACR Scholar in Training Award
Radiation oncology resident Zachary Buchwald, MD, PhD will receive an AACR Scholar-in-Training Award for his abstract, "Tumor-draining lymph node irradiation reduces tumor-infiltrating stem-like CD8+T-cells and abrogates the abscopal effect."
