Winship holds annual oncology nursing symposium

Over 300 nurses and health care professionals attended the 11th Annual Winship Oncology Nursing Symposium March 15-16 in Stone Mountain, Georgia. Starving leukemia cells by targeting amino acids
Winship researchers, led by Cheng-Kui Qu, MD, PhD, have identified a transporter enzyme called ASCT2, which brings amino acids into cells, as a target for anticancer drugs. The results were published online March 11 in Nature Metabolism.

Emory University School of Medicine participated in the annual Match Day ceremony on Friday, March 15. At noon eastern time, medical seniors across the country learned the institutions where they will continue their training after graduation.

The Winship Scientific Symposium includes a poster session on March 27 in the Miller-Ward Alumni House. Based on the scores, four outstanding poster presenters will be selected for funding and deliver 5-minute, Shark Tank-style proposals the following day.
