Lechowicz honored with Emory's Exemplary Teacher Award

Emory's 174th Commencement on Monday, May 13 will honor the accomplishments of nearly 5,000 graduates as well as several outstanding faculty members who helped them along the way. In recognition of her leadership and commitment to education, Winship hematological oncologist Mary Jo Lechowicz, MD is the recipient of Emory's 2019 Exemplary Teacher of the Year Award.

Lam receives NIH Emerging Investigator Award
Wilbur Lam, MD, PhD has been selected for an Emerging Investigator Award from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) of the National Institutes of Health. The award, which includes a $5 million grant, is one of only seven NHLBI emerging investigator awards in the country.

Flowers receives ACOG community service award
Lisa Flowers, MD received the 2019 Pete & Weesie Hollis Community Service Award from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) for providing care and support to underserved or poorly served patient populations. Emory's Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics hosted a Women's Health Awareness Luncheon on May 7 for members of the community. Presenters included Drs. Jane Meisel and Preeti Subhedar (pictured) and Anant Mandawat, MD.
 
  
Winship specialists lead amyloidosis conference
Craig Hofmeister, MD and course co-directors Drs. Jonathan Kaufman and Kunal Bhatt (pictured with course faculty) led an Emory continuing medical education symposium on May 11, which focused on amyloidosis, a disease that affects a proportion of patients with multiple myeloma.
