Curran selected for ASTRO Gold Medal Award

Walter J. Curran, Jr., MD will be honored with a 2019 American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) Gold Medal at the ASTRO Annual Meeting, Sept.15-18, in Chicago. The Gold Medal is ASTRO's highest honor given to members for outstanding contributions to the field.

Winship members honored as Health Care Heroes

The Atlanta Business Chronicle has selected Emory health sciences faculty and staff as winners or finalists in its annual Health Care Heroes Awards competition. The honorees include Charles Moore, MD, Wilbur Lam, MD, PhD and Sharon Pappas, PhD, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN.

Meisel comments on ASCO Women's Networking Center

In a blog for ASCO Connection, Jane Meisel, MD discusses the value of connecting with colleagues who can understand the struggles and triumphs of having a career in oncology. ASCO's annual meeting includes resources such as the Women's Networking Center that features mentoring office hours with Meisel and other faculty.

Khan joins ACR delegation to advocate on Capitol Hill

Thyroid specialists share research at Tbilisi conference

Drs. Natia Esiashvili, Nabil Saba, Amy Chen, Joe Sharma, and Raghuveer Halkar presented at a thyroid cancer symposium on May 24 in Tbilisi, Republic of Georgia.

Winship's annual Sea Island conference for hematologists, oncologists, and other professionals will take place July 24-28.

Faculty educators honored

Emory School of Medicine celebrated Educator Appreciation Day on May 22. Faculty who were nominated by students and peers for special recognition include Winship members Drs. Cecelia Bellcross, Cara Cimmino, Jennifer Felger, Adriana Ioachimescu, Mary Jo Lechowicz, Akanksha Mehta, Merry Sebelik, and Joshua Winer.

Winship's Cars Under the Stars set for November

Cars Under the Stars, a fundraiser benefiting Winship on Nov. 3, will feature luxury and antique automobiles with a cocktail buffet, silent auction, and live music. Opportunities to support at the patron level are now available. Tickets go on sale in September.

Winship celebrates Clinic B renovation

A grand opening reception was held on May 22 for faculty and staff to show off their new office space on the 4th floor of The Emory Clinic B. Team members from hematology, medical oncology, and surgical oncology are housed in the newly renovated north side of the building.

Core offers HPLC bioanalytical services

Located in the Woodruff Memorial Research Building, the Emory HPLC Bioanalytical Core provides quantitative analysis of monoamine neurotransmitters, amino acids neurotransmitters, and purines from a variety of biological samples.
