Boise honored with Winship 5K Professorship

The inaugural Winship 5K Research Professorship was presented to Larry Boise, PhD, Winship multiple myeloma researcher and associate director for education and training, on Oct. 29. The Professorship award is made possible through generous gifts to the Winship 5K and will allow Boise to explore new areas of research that will improve the care of people with cancer.

Owonikoko named co-leader of DDT Program
Effective Nov. 1, Taofeek Owonikoko, MD, PhD, MSCR has assumed the role of co-leader of Winship's Discovery and Developmental Therapeutics (DDT) Research Program. Owonikoko joins DDT Program Leader Haian Fu, PhD, and succeeds Suresh Ramalingam, MD in serving as this program's co-leader.

Adiposity may predict survival in Phase I immunotherapy trials
A Winship study, led by senior author Mehmet Asim Bilen, MD and co-first authors Meredith Kline and Dylan Martini, explores the association between types of fat and survival in patients with advanced-stage cancer treated with immunotherapy. The results were published Oct. 24 in the journal Cancer.
