FDA approves Winship-tested multiple myeloma therapy

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted accelerated approval of belantamab mafodotin-blmf for adult patients with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma who have received at least four prior therapies. Drs. Sagar Lonial and Ajay Nooka were key investigators on the multicenter DREAMM-2 trial that evaluated the drug.

Oyesiku honored with inaugural endowed chair
Nelson M. Oyesiku, MD, PhD, FACS has been awarded the inaugural Daniel Louis Barrow Endowed Chair. Oyesiku is a professor, vice chair and director of the residency program in the Department of Neurosurgery and specializes in the surgical treatment and molecular biology of pituitary tumors.

Sebelik receives award for humanitarian service
Merry Sebelik, MD has received the 2020 Distinguished Award for Humanitarian Service from the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. Sebelik is a faculty mentor with Emory's Global Health Resident Scholar Program and has partnered on otolaryngology training in Ethiopia.

Two years after Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University (Winship) opened the Emory at Buford Ambulatory Infusion Center, the facility has provided infusion services for over 1,100 patients. Located in the Northeast Metro Atlanta area, the infusion center gives the region and neighboring communities access to a crucial service.
