| | Hartman receives R01 for nutrition study | Terry Hartman, PhD, MPH, RD has received a National Cancer Institute R01 grant for the project, “Fiber-rich foods to treat obesity and prevent colon cancer.” The 12-month randomized clinical trial will provide participants pre-portioned high-fiber entrées and strategic nutritional instruction. Co-investigators are Drs. Dana Flanders, Tom Ziegler, and Jennifer Christie.

| | | | Lerit receives R01 to study centrosome regulation | Dorothy Lerit, PhD has received an R01 grant from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences to support her work in post-translational mechanisms of centrosome regulation. Centrosome deregulation is the leading cause of heritable microcephaly and is considered a key driver and prognostic marker of cancer.

| | Sudmeier receives RSNA research grant | Lisa Sudmeier, MD, PhD has received a Resident/Fellow Research Grant from the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) Research & Education Foundation. The grant provides $30,000 in funding and will support Sudmeier’s project, “Characterization of Cd8+ T-cells in Brain Metastases and Correlation with Response to Stereotactic Radiosurgery.”

| | | | Hudson receives K99/R00 award | William Hudson, PhD has received a five-year K99/R00 Pathway to Independence Award from the National Institutes of Health. The award provides two years of postdoctoral training in the lab of Rafi Ahmed, PhD and three subsequent years of independent funding. The focus of the funding is identifying drug targets to combat T cell exhaustion with the goal of improving cancer immunotherapies.
