Winship announces it will partner with Caris Life Sciences to provide molecular profiling for Winship patients. The precision medicine partnership will add to Winship’s existing molecular testing platform that has been in use for the past seven years.

Kudchadkar to chair Winship Clinical and Translational Review Committee
Ragini Kudchadkar, MD has been named chair of the Clinical and Translational Review Committee, the group responsible for scientifically reviewing all proposed cancer clinical trials at Winship. Kudchadkar will begin her new role on Feb. 1.

Conventional therapy impacts pancreatic tumor microenvironment
Winship researchers led by Gregory Lesinski, PhD, MPH looked at whether pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma tumors exposed to conventional therapies may preferentially modulate immune biomarkers in the tumor microenvironment. The study was published in JCI Insight on Jan. 16.

Yang to receive AAPM Laughlin Young Scientist Award
Xiaofeng Yang, PhD, DABR has been selected to receive the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) John S. Laughlin Young Scientist Award. Yang will be honored on July 13 during the AAPM annual meeting in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Nearly 20 Winship teams presented research at the 2020 Gastrointestinal Cancers Symposium in San Francisco, Jan. 23-25. Super Bowl kicker has deep ties to Winship
Harrison Butker, a record-setting field goal kicker for the Kansas City Chiefs, will play in Super Bowl LIV on Feb. 2 in Miami. Butker is the son of Winship medical physicist Elizabeth Keller Butker, MS, DABR, and the grandson of James W. Keller, MD, an emeritus professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology.
