Winship affiliate launches marketing campaign

Winship Cancer Network affiliate Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) is launching "More Voices, More Victories," a multi-faceted marketing campaign showcasing the collaboration with Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University. The campaign will run across a combination of traditional media including print, TV and radio, as well as digital media starting in July 2020.

New R01 supports study of SAMHD1 for breast cancer control
Drs. David Yu and Baek Kim have received an R01 from the National Cancer Institute titled, “Elucidating SAMHD1 in DNA Double-strand Break Repair.” The project will develop a proof of concept to target SAMHD1 as a novel therapeutic approach for improving breast cancer control.

Sun receives NCI R01 for c-Myc modulation study
Shi-Yong Sun, PhD has received an R01 from the National Cancer Institute. The project focuses on c-Myc as a target for developing more effective strategies to overcome acquired resistance to AZD9291, an EGFR-inhibitor used to treat non-small cell lung cancer.

Carthon named EUHM service chief
Bradley Carthon, MD, PhD has been appointed service chief of hematology and oncology at Emory University Hospital Midtown (EUHM) effective July 1. He previously served as medical director of inpatient medical oncology at Winship's Clifton campus.

Faculty and residents from the Department of Radiation Oncology presented nearly 25 abstracts at the joint virtual meeting of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) and the Canadian Organization of Medical Physicists, held July 12-16. Winship celebrates new infusion pharmacy opening
Winship celebrated the opening of a new infusion pharmacy in its ambulatory infusion center on the Clifton campus on July 15.
