FDA approves Winship-tested immunotherapy combination

Based on a trial demonstrating sustained improvement for patients with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced approval of a novel combination of immunotherapy drugs as a first-line treatment option. Winship Deputy Director Suresh Ramalingam, MD will present the updated results from the CheckMate 227 trial that led to the FDA decision in an oral session at the annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), to be held virtually May 29-31.

Kesarwala receives Melanoma Research Alliance Young Investigator Award
Aparna Kesarwala, MD, PhD has received an MRA Young Investigator Award from the Melanoma Research Alliance. The award, funded in collaboration with Emory University, will support Kesarwala’s project, "Targeting interactions between melanoma metabolism and radiation therapy."
