| | | Dr. Wally Curran announced last week that he will step down as Winship’s executive director in January to accept a position as global chief medical officer with GenesisCare, an Australian-based group which is the world’s largest provider of radiation oncology patient care and a leading provider of other oncology care across four continents. Over the past 11 years, Curran has led Winship through successful competitive renewal of its NCI Cancer Center Support Grant in 2012 and attainment of NCI designated comprehensive cancer center status in 2017. Winship has experienced substantial growth in its clinical, research, and education efforts over this time period under his leadership. More information will be forthcoming on plans to celebrate Curran and recognize the many contributions he has made to Winship’s emergence as a world-class cancer center. | Read Curran’s letter to Winship faculty and staff. |
