Pamela Allen, MD, MS, and hematology/oncology fellow Jason Romancik, MD, have been awarded grants from the Lymphoma Research Foundation. Allen received the Clinical Investigator Career Development Award, and Romancik was selected for the Lymphoma Scientific Research Mentoring Program.

McDaniel appointed to new Winship nurse leadership role
Donna McDaniel, RN, MN, OCN will become the specialty director of oncology for the Winship at Emory Johns Creek and Buford campuses, beginning this summer. McDaniel, who joined Winship in 2002, has served in this role for the Winship Clifton campus since 2017.
 
 
 
     
 
 
American Cancer Society to host research symposia series
The American Cancer Society is hosting a series of mini-symposia on the epithelial–mesenchymal transition, engineered effector cells for immunotherapy, and other cancer research topics. All mini-symposia will feature a “3 short talks and a Q&A” format, with an emphasis on promoting a rich discussion among participants.

Updated meeting and gathering protocols
Emory is now operating under “yellow” conditions, allowing for greater university activity, while still requiring strict adherence to infection prevention measures. Meetings in Winship Building C remain limited to attendees who work in the building. Requests to book Winship conference rooms, including the Kauffman Auditorium, can be made in 25Live for review.

The Winship DATA (Data and Technology Applications) Shared Resource, previously known as Winship Research Informatics, specializes in database design and management, informatics support, clinical data abstraction/collection, custom software development, and provides support for grants, manuscripts, and abstracts. The new name reflects a comprehensive focus on data acquisition, management and analysis, distribution, and maintenance in support of scientific research at Winship.
