Maples receives HOPA New Practitioner Award
Kathryn Maples, PharmD, clinical pharmacy specialist at Winship, received a HOPA New Practitioner Award at the annual meeting of the Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Association, held in Boston March 30 to April 2. The award recognizes a HOPA member early in their career who has made a significant contribution to developing or supporting clinical hematology and oncology pharmacy services.

Konen joins Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology
Jessica Konen, PhD, has joined Winship as an instructor of hematology and medical oncology. Konen, who earned her PhD from Emory, recently completed postdoctoral training at MD Anderson Cancer Center, where she focused on identifying and targeting novel mechanisms of drug resistance to cancer therapeutics, including immunotherapies, to improve outcomes for people with lung cancer.

Zanardo named nurse manager for Winship at Buford
Steven (Tony) Zanardo, BSN, RN, has been promoted to nurse manager of the Winship at Buford Clinic. Zanardo, who brings nearly a decade of ambulatory nursing experience, previously served as nurse scholar in Emory Johns Creek infusion center.

Renovations set to enhance services at Winship at Emory Johns Creek Hospital

Renovations are underway to enhance patient service offerings and improve the overall flow of Winship's hematology and medical oncology clinic and ambulatory infusion center at Emory Johns Creek Hospital. The phased renovation project, taking place between March and October 2022, includes the addition of new clinic and consult rooms, new quick injection chairs, and a centralized check-in and waiting room.
