Raj receives American Cancer Society Research Scholar Grant
Winship member and Emory chemist Monika Raj, PhD, has received a four-year, $792,000 Research Scholar Grant from the American Cancer Society. The grant will support Raj’s research project focused on discovering new chemical approaches and novel markers for detecting early-stage lung cancer.

Registration opens for UGA-Winship Summit

The University of Georgia and Winship Summit, “Advancing Cancer Research in Georgia,” will be held July 17-18 at the Evergreen Marriott Conference Resort in Stone Mountain. Highlights include an opening night banquet with keynote talk, faculty presentations on emerging topics, and a poster session featuring student and trainee research. Registration is complimentary. Hotel accommodation requests are due June 15, and poster abstracts are due June 24.

“Can You Hear My Voice?” virtual film screening and webinar
Winship will host a free webinar on June 2 at 6 p.m. featuring the award-winning documentary film, “Can You Hear My Voice?” and a panel discussion with Winship throat cancer specialists, throat cancer survivors, and the film’s producer, Bill Brummel. Webinar registrants receive a link to a virtual screening of the film, viewable May 27 through June 5.

Call for proposals: 43 Challenge grants for pediatric cancer research
The 43 Challenge by the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation is open to new and innovative research proposals poised to significantly improve the lives of children with cancer. Proposals are valued at $1 million to $4.3 million and may be submitted by individuals or multidisciplinary teams. Applications are due May 31.
