Emory Clinic is the first ambulatory or outpatient practice in Georgia to receive the prestigious Magnet recognition from the American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a reflection of its nursing professionalism, teamwork and superiority in patient care. Winship investigators to present at ASCO annual meeting
Winship investigators will present new findings, including innovative approaches to preventing, detecting, treating and surviving cancer, at the American Society of Clinical Oncology annual meeting, to be held in Chicago, June 3-7. Additionally, five Winship faculty and trainees were given awards from ASCO.

Winship Town Hall set for June 14
Join the Winship executive leadership team for a town hall meeting on June 14 from 5 to 6 p.m. in the Health Sciences Research Building Auditorium. The in-person event, which will be live-streamed and recorded, will include discussion of the new Winship Strategic Plan and its expected impact on Winship's continued growth over the next five years. A reception will follow.

Winship members receive HERCULES pilot grants
Lauren E. McCullough, PhD, MSPH, and Christine Ekenga, PhD, MPH, have received pilot grants from Emory’s HERCULES Exposome Research Center. The grants will fund McCullough’s study of the legacy of redlining on the burden of air quality and breast cancer outcomes in Georgia, and Ekenga’s study of mobile health for monitoring social and environmental exposures in low-income areas.

Branella receives grant to advance CAR T-cell therapy for acute myeloid leukemia
Gianna Branella, a doctoral student in the lab of Winship member H. Trent Spencer, PhD, has received a Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (F31) from the National Cancer Institute. The grant will support her study of a new, non-genotoxic conditioning regimen that aims to advance the use of CAR T-cell therapy in patients with acute myeloid leukemia.

Childhood cancer survivor becomes pediatric cancer nurse
Julia York, who was treated for a childhood brain tumor by Winship radiation oncologist Natia Esiashvili, MD, is starting her career as a pediatric hematology/oncology nurse in Alabama. York and Esiashvili were featured on FOX 5 Atlanta in a segment that aired on May 25.
