Tribute and Memorial Gifts
Many people find it meaningful to make a gift in honor of someone who is fighting cancer or in memory of a friend or a loved one. Others want to recognize those who make a difference in the lives of cancer patients, such as a physician or a nurse. You can designate a gift for any occasion -- a birthday, anniversary, or holiday -- or to express appreciation or love.
Gift acknowledgments are sent to both the donor and to the person or family the donor specifies, although the amount of the donation is not revealed.
To direct memorial gifts in honor of a loved one, please instruct family and friends to make checks payable to Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University and include the loved one’s name in the memo line. Here is sample language that can be used for memorial gifts in obituary: “In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University, Office of Gift Records, Emory University, 1762 Clifton Rd. NE, Suite 1400, Atlanta, GA 30322.”
