Postdoctoral Fellowship Training
We encourage exceptional graduate students who have demonstrated interest and potential for a career in cancer research to pursue postdoctoral research opportunities at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University. We offer postdoctoral training in various aspects of cancer research.
Training Opportunities
Winship supports an array of research seminars, continuing education, scientific symposia, and professional development opportunities for postdoctoral trainees. Fellowships are available from a number of training grants that span basic, translational, clinical and population science. There are currently over 170 postdoctoral fellows conducting cancer-related research at Winship.

Collaborative Opportunities
Numerous opportunities for collaborative studies and large team science research endeavors are available from various intra- and inter-programmatic activities.
With over 500 faculty, Winship members represent nearly 40 departments within Emory University and collaborating institutions including Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), American Cancer Society, Georgia Tech, and Morehouse School of Medicine.
Each Winship member is aligned with one of four research programs, supported in part by the NCI Cancer Center Support Grant, which focus on scientific themes that align with member research:
- Cancer Immunology
- Cancer Prevention and Control
- Cell and Molecular Biology
- Discovery and Developmental Therapeutics
Winship also provides its members centralized access to state-of-the-art equipment, scientific consultation, data, and biostatistics services through NCI supported shared resources.

Quarterly Group Meetings
The Winship Postdoctoral Fellows Group focuses on supporting and enhancing the trainee experience by providing a forum for dialogue, advocacy, skill-building, networking and career development opportunities. Meetings are held quarterly over lunch, with topics and guest speakers guided by the interests of group members. The group welcomes newcomers and is open to all post-doctoral fellows working in cancer research at Emory and Winship member-affiliated labs at partner institutions.

Career Development Opportunites
Winship's T32 Cancer Biology T32 Training Program, supported by a grant from the National Cancer Institute, provides enhanced mentored training to postdoctoral trainees researching cancer biology.
The Winship Postdoctoral Scholar Award Program is designed to acknowledge exceptional postdoctoral scholars engaged in outstanding cancer research, showcasing leadership, mentorship and service qualities.
The K-Club provides an educational forum to assist fellows and faculty with developing successful career development award applications. The K-Club is open to all with an interest in acquiring funding for research via career development awards and other related funding mechanisms, and thrives on the support of faculty contributors and young investigator participants.
