Faiz U. Ahmad, MD, is an associate professor of Neurological Surgery at the Emory University School of Medicine. He serves as Chief of Neurosurgery at Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital as well as director of spinal neurosurgery at Grady Memorial Hospital. Dr. Ahmad completed his neurosurgical residency and two fellowships, including a complex spinal surgery fellowship, at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. His specialty interests include minimally invasive methods of treating spinal disorders, treatment of spinal tumors, artificial cervical disc replacement, use of computer-assisted navigation techniques in spinal surgery, complex spinal reconstruction surgery and spinal cord injury.
Dr. Ahmad is also a prolific researcher, contributing over 200 peer reviewed papers, book chapters, abstracts and oral presentations. His research interests include spinal injury, minimally invasive neurosurgery and traumatic brain injury. He also serves as an editor and reviewer for several national and international peer-reviewed neurosurgical research journals, as well as on several national and regional neurosurgery committees.
Dr Ahmad is board certified by American Board of Neurosurgery (ABNS), is a fellow of American Association of Neurological Surgeons (FAANS) as well as fellow of American College of Surgeons (FACS).
Patients who are treated in outpatient and inpatient environments are eligible to receive a survey related to their individual care.
