Armita Bahrami, MD, is a professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Bahrami is a surgical pathologist with an interest in the molecular pathogenesis of soft tissue sarcoma and melanoma. She joined the faculty at Emory in 2020, where she serves as the director of Bone and Soft Tissue Pathology service.
Prior to joining Emory, she was recruited as a clinical investigator track faculty in the Department of Pathology at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, where she participated in the Pediatric Cancer Genome Project, an endeavor to map the genome of large numbers of pediatric cancers.

Dr. Bahrami is a member of the Cell and Molecular Biology Research Program at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. She holds professional memberships with the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, College of American Pathologists, American Society of Clinical Pathology, American Society of Clinical Oncology and American Association for Cancer Research.
Research
Dr. Bahrami’s research interests include pathology, genetics, and molecular pathogenesis of bone and soft tissue tumors. Her current research focuses on the molecular genetics of bone and soft tissue sarcomas, with the goal of identifying biomarkers that will improve diagnostic and prognostic precision.
Publications
Dr. Bahrami has published a number of peer-reviewed original papers, and also serves on the editorial boards of Scientific Reports, Cancers, Precision Cancer Medicine and Genes, Chromosomes and Cancer.
