Dr. Balthazar is a member of the Cancer Prevention and Control Research Program at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. She holds professional memberships with the American College of Radiology, American Roentgen Ray Society and Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine. She actively serves on several national society committees with leadership roles including ACR® Junior Representative for the Association of American Medical Colleges Council on Faculty and Academic Societies.
Research
Dr. Balthazar's goal is to improve patient-centered and evidence-based healthcare delivery for all patients using information technology and digital health interventions. She has received a career development grant to work on a randomized controlled trial to evaluate the impact of text message and patient portal reminders on adherence to recommended breast cancer screening mammography. She has also researched US Census and institutional data on the use of computers and online patient portals to improve healthcare delivery.
Her prior research has encompassed the impact of information-technology tools in:
translational patient-centered care
appropriateness of imaging utilization
trends and drivers of imaging utilization and radiology clinical practice patterns
ethics and bias in research
