Travis W. Blalock, M.D., FAAD, FACMS is Emory’s Director of Dermatologic Surgery, Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology for the Department of Dermatology. He is currently an Associate Professor (Dermatology) at the Emory University School of Medicine.

Dr. Blalock works primarily at Emory Clinic at 1525 Clifton Road and is also on staff at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Decatur. His primary focus is Dermatologic Surgery including treatment of skin cancers with a specialized surgical procedure called Mohs Micrographic Surgery. This is used to treat multiple different skin cancers including Basal Cell Carcinoma, Squamous Cell Carcinoma, Merkel Cell Carcinoma, Sebaceous Carcinoma, Dermatofibrosarcoma Protuberans, as well as many other types of skin cancer. Additionally, Dr. Blalock does surgery for other skin growths/lesions, skin reconstruction, and laser therapy of skin conditions.

Dr. Blalock is originally from Dallas, Georgia. He received his undergraduate degree from Emory College in Religion and received Emory University’s First Minor in Ethics. He graduated from Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon, Ga. Thereafter, he completed his internship in General Surgery at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He subsequently completed a residency in dermatology at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta Ga., where he also served as Chief Resident his final year. Following training in Dermatology, Dr. Blalock completed a Fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Procedural Dermatology at Scripps Clinic in La Jolla, California.

Dr. Blalock serves as the Fellowship Director for Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology. He has received multiple teaching awards throughout his career including the Medical College of Georgia’s Division of Dermatology “Marshall A. Guill Resident Teaching Award” in 2011, the inaugural University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center Department of Dermatology “Dr. Dennis Weigand Faculty Teaching Award” in 2014, and the Emory University Department of Dermatology “2017-2018 Teaching Award” in 2018.

Dr. Blalock has been recognized numerous times for his patient satisfaction awards as well as for his service to the Emory Department and Community. Dr. Blalock has a passion for Emory, having met his wife on Emory’s campus more than 20 years ago. They live in the Druid Hills neighborhood of Atlanta with their two daughters.

One star One star One star One star One half star	01/28/2023	The likelihood of considerable eye swelling and bruising and swelling running down my face (even impacting on my sensations when I bite down ) was only briefly mentioned as a possibility. I wish it had been emphasized more as possibly disfiguring enough to warrant taking a few days off of work.
